Signs Your San Antonio Home Has a Humidity Problem

How a Whole-Home Dehumidifier Works with Your HVAC System
A whole-home dehumidifier mounts in line with your existing ductwork and is controlled by a humidistat, a sensor that triggers the unit based on relative humidity rather than temperature. That means it can run independently of the air conditioner, including during shoulder-season months when the AC sits idle. The unit uses a refrigeration cycle similar to an AC’s evaporator coil, but it doesn’t meaningfully change indoor temperature, so it’s practical year-round.
Capacity is measured in pints per day (PPD), the amount of water the unit removes from the air in 24 hours. Sizing that capacity correctly to your home’s square footage and conditions determines whether the unit actually addresses the problem. Many homeowners find that keeping indoor humidity in the 30 to 50 percent range lets them raise their thermostat a couple of degrees and still feel comfortable, since humidity directly affects how the body dissipates heat. Controlled moisture levels can also reduce the long-term load on the AC’s evaporator coil and compressor.

What does my warranty cover?Under the standard factory warranty, Trane covers parts that fail during the warranty period due to defect in the part. The warranty does not cover labor. A warranty certificate was included with your homeowner information packet, and is specific to the model numbers, serial numbers and installation dates of your products. All Trane equipment that we install is registered with Trane Corporation to ensure your 10 year parts warranty. If you cannot find your warranty certificate, Climate Control Heating & Air will also be able to provide you with that information. With a Climate Control Heating & Air Total Comfort Plan, you'll have a ten year parts and labor warranty on your Trane equipment.

Depending upon the construction of your home, one (1) ton of air conditioning can cool anywhere from 300 to 800 square feet of home. The only way to ensure the size of the system you purchase will be large enough to heat or cool your home, but not any larger than you need, is to have your home's individual heating and cooling needs evaluated by a licensed professional.
