Signs Your Ductwork May Need Repair

Duct problems don’t always announce themselves with a loud failure. More often, the signs show up gradually: one room that never quite cools down, a utility bill that climbs without explanation, or a vent that barely moves air. Our assessment process identifies whether those symptoms stem from duct leaks, disconnected sections, or collapsed runs before we recommend any repair.

San Antonio’s attic conditions accelerate duct wear faster than most homeowners expect. High humidity and dust cause older duct materials to sag, separate, or break down in ways that aren’t visible from inside the home. Whistling, rattling, or flapping sounds when your system runs are worth paying attention to, since they can signal gaps at connections or joints. Recent remodeling, roof work, or pest activity in the attic are also common causes of crushed or disconnected duct runs that go unnoticed until the cooling bill arrives.

Keep Your Home Running Smoothly All Year Long
Your HVAC system needs some TLC to keep you comfortable through all the seasons. We've put together a maintenance plan to do just that!

How We Diagnose & Repair Ductwork

We don’t guess at duct problems. Our technicians physically inspect accessible duct runs in the attic, garage, or crawlspace, check for visible damage, and measure airflow at supply registers in key rooms before recommending any repair. That process tells us where conditioned air is escaping and whether we’re dealing with isolated leaks, ripped sections, or something more widespread.

Our duct repair work addresses holes, rips, and leakage points to restore ductwork that’s sealed and working efficiently. Every repair we complete is backed by up to a 10-year labor warranty and a satisfaction guarantee, so you don’t have to wonder whether the fix will hold.

Our FAQ

Have questions? We are here to help. Still have questions or can't find the answer you need? Give us a call at 210-934-0634 today!

  • What is the life expectancy of my unit?
Dependable Trane products are among the longest lasting heating and cooling products available. For your specific equipment, there are many variables that affect life expectancy, including, of course, the regularity of routine maintenance.
  • What does my warranty cover?
Under the standard factory warranty, Trane covers parts that fail during the warranty period due to defect in the part. The warranty does not cover labor. A warranty certificate was included with your homeowner information packet, and is specific to the model numbers, serial numbers and installation dates of your products. All Trane equipment that we install is registered with Trane Corporation to ensure your 10 year parts warranty. If you cannot find your warranty certificate, Climate Control Heating & Air will also be able to provide you with that information. With a Climate Control Heating & Air Total Comfort Plan, you'll have a ten year parts and labor warranty on your Trane equipment.
  • Which Trane equipment will best fit my home?
There are many factors that affect the sizing and specifications of your system, including square footage, insulation, window surface and configuration, geographic location of your home, duct sizing and arrangement, and many others. Climate Control Heating & Air can perform an in-home load analysis to determine which equipment combinations will perfectly suit your home and your family's needs. Depending upon the construction of your home, one (1) ton of air conditioning can cool anywhere from 300 to 800 square feet of home. The only way to ensure the size of the system you purchase will be large enough to heat or cool your home, but not any larger than you need, is to have your home's individual heating and cooling needs evaluated by a licensed professional.
  • Where can I get parts for my Trane equipment?
As a Trane dealer, Climate Control Heating & Air is the best resource for identifying and supplying the correct, current parts for your system, as well as pricing and availability.
