Investigating a Mystery Clog
Karla noticed water draining poorly from her sink and wondered if condensation from her HVAC unit might be to blame. She scheduled an inspection with Mason V., whose approach combined extensive technical know-how with a commitment to putting clients at ease. Karla describes her experience:
“Mason V. did a very thorough inspection of my HVAC unit to determine if the condensation from that unit caused my sink to clog. He explained every step of his troubleshooting. He determined it was not the HVAC and recommended a product to pour in my sink once a month that is safe for septic tanks. Extremely pleased with his service.”
Thorough Checks—Step by Step
Mason began by verifying that the AC drain line worked as it should and found no sign of backup. He vacuumed the primary drain, attached a new threaded union, and checked every angle for possible obstructions. To be certain, he removed the portion of the primary line that tapped into the sink and poured a full gallon of water through while Karla watched, confirming the line was completely clear.
Karla saw firsthand that the HVAC system wasn’t causing the issue. Mason then made a safe monthly maintenance recommendation for her sink and encouraged her to contact a plumber about the persistent clog. She wanted verification that the AC drain line was not backed up and was indeed her plumbing. Vacuumed her primary drain line and added a threaded union to her primary drain line and went ahead and blew out the primary and did not hear anything in the drain. Removed the primary line that is tapped into the sink and asked if the customer could watch it to make sure everything drains out, poured a gallon of water into the primary and it took the whole gallon without backing up and customer stated that all the water came out. Notified customer to call the plumber to get sink unclogged.”
